December greetings
from the First and Second graders. We hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a chance to Worship and Thank God for
all that He does for us. We just returned from our long Thanksgiving vacation so I hope we haven’t forgotten all the
things we did in November. We will soon be getting ready for the Celebration of the birth of our Savior. We will be busy learning
parts and songs so be sure to come to our Service on Christmas Eve.
First
graders have started learning some subtraction facts in Math. It is sometimes hard to remember whether we are doing addition
or subtraction on our papers.
First graders started a new book in
reading. Our first story was about two bears gathering eggs and trying to make a cake. They didn’t do so well. Momma
Bear made scrambled eggs instead.
In First grade Spelling we are learning
words that begin with clusters or blends. We have learned ‘r’ cluster words and now we are learning some ‘l’
cluster words.
In First Grade Handwriting we have been learning how to make our lower
case letters. We have learned almost half of the alphabet.
Second Graders are writing their first official
paper in English. We are writing a two-point expository paragraph. It is about our favorite colors.
During our daily story time, we read a new book called “Turkey Trouble”. It is about a turkey that
tries to hide from the farmer so he does not get eaten. He succeeds by making himself look like a flower.
Second Grade Social Studies has a Lesson on the “El Paso Legend”. We learned something about the Native
American’s that live in Texas.
Second Graders have been
reviewing the lower and upper case letters. When we finish all of them we can start cursive. We also had to copy a set of
directions.
Second Graders have the long ‘e’ sound in Spelling. It
is made with the letters ‘ee’ or ‘ea’. Our memory word for the week is ‘people’. It has
‘eo’ instead of ‘ee’ or ‘ea’.
Please
remember us during the Advent Season as we prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior. Please pray that we will use our
time wisely and always turn to Jesus for help, like King Hezekiah did in our story for today. Hezekiah prayed to God when
problem arose instead of trying to solve them on his own. Have a Blessed December.
