Are You Ready for the Relay for Life?
Trinity's
kids are hosting a mini 'Relay for Life' to benefit the American Cancer Society. On Wednesday, March 10th from
1-3 pm, parents, grandparents, families & friends are invited to see our relay teams make their way around the gym.
They will follow a path marked by luminaries they have decorated, bearing the names of family & friends who have fought
cancer.
The children will be divided into seven teams, with students from each classroom on each team. The
students are suggesting different ways that laps will be made, backwards, giant steps, etc. The type of lap will be
drawn from a hat and announced as the baton is passed, to add the element of surprise.
Our relay will loosely pattern
itself after the Washington County Relay for Life. We will have a survivor lap with special guests, our family &
friends who have fought or are fighting cancer. We will light luminaries with battery operated candles & flashlights
so that we can do some laps with only the glow that represents hope in the dark times. Each team will do a short bit
of entertainment. Information about the American Cancer Society will be on display.
We hope you can join
us for this exciting event. Please encourage your loved ones who have been touched by cancer to celebrate, remember
and fight back with us.
A suggested donation of $5 will be collected to mark the luminaries to honor a loved one
who has fought cancer. For the same donation, we are also marking purple ribbons with the names of cancer fighters that
will be used to decorate the gym. These ribbons and luminaries will be saved and used at the Washington County Relay
for Life in May at no additional cost.
To order a marked luminary or ribbon, send in the
order form from a Trinity student, see Jane in the school office, or Dawn Mueller before March 10.
Stop by
or call the school office to let us know if you plan to participate. We are also looking for battery operated tea lights
or candles to put in the luminaries. If you have some we could borrow, please drop them off at the school office.
We would like to give a special thank you to all the faculty & staff
for the Christian Education they are teaching. Also thank you to the PTL & other organizations for their support
throughout the year. The students of Trinity.
